Serie A 2011-2012 Round 9

Title: Serie A 2011-2012 Round 9

Description: 30 October 2011 SIENA 4 (Destro 25, Destro 57, D'Agostino 61, Calaio 94) CHIEVO 1 (Moscardelli 75) Destro spun onto a pass leaving Mandelli flat on his face, he checked his run as Gallozzi made a challenge and from the edge of the box angled a shot in off the right post. Lovely finish. Calaio met a cross with a spectacular scissor kick, Sorrentino made a one handed save and Destro tapped in the rebound. D'Agostino scored the third with a trademark free kick. Destro blew a chance to score a hat-trick. Pellissier picked out The Undertaker with a fantastically weighted through pass and he shot across goal into the bottom corner. Calaio beat the Chievo offside trap to score the fourth. Siena have flown under the radar and find themselves above the likes of Roma and Fiorentina in the standings. Attendance : 8,472 Assists : D'Agostino, n/a, Mannini (won fk), Pellissier, Pesoli BOLOGNA 3 (Di Vaio 45 Pen, Ramirez 48, Loria 68) ATALANTA 1 (Denis 7) Cigarini released Peluso with a superb crossfield pass, he fired in a centre and Denis' shot was charged down, he took the ball away from a defender with his right then swept a shot into the corner with his left. Fine finish. Di Vaio finally got off the mark from the penalty spot. Acquafresca's excellent through ball sent Ramirez clear of two defenders and he beat Consigli with ease. Loria headed in the third from a Ramirez free kick. Attendance : 17,870 Assists : n/a, Ramirez (won pen), Acquafresca, Ramirez (fk) FIORENTINA 1 (Lazzari 41) GENOA 0 Attendance : 19,312 Assist : Pasquale LECCE 1 (Strasser 32) NOVARA 1 (Rigoni 41 Pen) Lecce's Colombian midfielder Cuadrado, who is unbelievably bad in front of goal, chipped Bertolacci's pass towards the six yard box and Strasser got above his marker to emphatically head in his first Lecce goal. Meggiorini scored one of the best overhead kicks you're ever likely to see but it was disallowed by a lineman's flag - he wasn't offside. Criminal. Rigoni got up to equalise after Mesbah chopped him down in the box. Attendance : 6,200 Assists : Cuadrado, Rigoni (won pen) PARMA 2 (Paletta 41, Lucarelli 66) CESENA 0 Both goals were from corners. The first followed a goalmouth scramble and Lucarelli smashed in the second from Giovinco's deflected cross. Attendance : 12,480 Assists : n/a, n/a UDINESE 1 (Di Natale 38) PALERMO 0 Attendance : 13,000 Assists : Basta CAGLIARI 0 LAZIO 3 (Lulic 39, Klose 44, Rocchi 88) Cisse touched on a Brocchi pass and Lulic curled a first time shot up and over Agazzi from 20 yards. Brilliant finish. Although Cisse has proved to be inept in front of goal, which is no surprise, he has turned into a great provider - his cross for a trademark Klose header was his 4th assist of the season. Cagliari missed several chances to get back in the match and Rocchi finished them on at the second attempt after his header came back off the bar. Attendance : 12,000 Assists : Cisse, Cisse, n/a 29 October 2011 ROMA 2 (Burdisso 28, Bojan 87) MILAN 3 (Ibrahimovic 17, Nesta 30, Ibrahimovic 78) Ibrahimovic headed in a superb Aquilani cross. Burdisso shrugged off a pathetic Zambrotta challenge to head in a Pjanic corner but Milan hit back immediately. Robinho swing in a corner and Nesta rose unchallenged to send a bullet header past Stekelenburg. Milan's third also came from a corner. Cassano's deflected center landed at Aquilani's feet and he picked out Ibrahimovic with another brilliant cross. Nocerino managed to miss from a yard out after Milan ripped through Roma on a counter attack. A mistake by Nesta allowed Lamela to run in on goal and although Abbiati, who had kept Roma at bay with some excellent saves, got a touch Bojan tapped in the rebound. Boateng was sent off for swearing to one of the officials as he left the pitch after being substituted and Allegri was also sent off for dissent. The ref Damato had a terrible game. He let players get away with heavy fouls but blew for the most innocuous of challenges. Milan played well within themselves in the second half. The defence still needs a lot of work but going forward they're irresistible with the midfielder trio of Boateng, Aquilani and Nocerino offering great support to the forwards. I said Milan would be top at the end of the month, which was the case after this match, I didn't say for how long. It's only a matter of time. Attendance : 44,000 Red Cards : Boateng 66 (Milan), Allegri Assists : Aquilani, Pjanic (ck), Robinho (ck), Aquilani, n/a CATANIA 2 (Marchese 25, Bergessio 48) NAPOLI 1 (Cavani 1) Cavani scored inside the first minute, blasting in a Lavezzi center. Gomez smacked a shot against two Napoli defenders and Marchese steered the rebound past De Sanctis. Santana was sent off for an unnecessary foul on Ricchiuti and five minutes later Bergessio headed in the winner after the Napoli defence failed to clear a corner. Attendance : 10,000 Red Card : Santana 43 (Napoli) Assists : Lavezzi, n/a, n/a INTER 1 (Maicon 28) JUVENTUS 2 (Vucinic 12, Marchisio 33) Matri shot Lichtsteiner's center straight at Castelazzi and Vucinic smashed in the rebound. Matri failed to put the finishing touch to a splendid counter attack, dragging his shot wide of the right post. Maicon drew Inter level with a shot that took a massive deflection off Bonucci. Pazzini hammered a header against the crossbar and within minutes Juventus restored their lead. Marchisio played a one-two with Matri, strode into the box shot wide of Castelazzi. Far too easy. Inter were lucky not to concede a penalty when Castelazzi took out Marchisio when he ran through onto a super Pirlo through ball. Vucinic, Estigarribia and Del Piero wasted chances to further humiliate Inter. Inter suck a big fat cock. There is no other way to describe them right now and it will take a far better coach than Ranieri to bring a team devoid of motivation and character out of the gutter. He's history at Christmas. Moratti is also going to have to spend big on some midfielders and a center forward. It might be time to cash in on Sneijder. Attendance : 78,072 Assists : n/a, n/a, Matri

EPL 2011-2012 Round 6

Title: EPL 2011-2012 Round 6

Description: 26 September 2011 Norwich 2 (Barnett 31. Morison 48) Sunderland 1 (Richardson 86) Not a game to catch the eye on the fixture list but it wasn't bad entertainment as Norwich narrowly saw off Sunderland at Carrow Road. Norwich went ahead just after the half hour as the visitors defence was split apart by neat passing as a quick one-two sent Elliott Bennett away on the right and his low cross was turned in by the unmarked Leon Barnett from close range. The hosts began the second half well and they doubled the lead quickly as a clipped cross from Marc Tierney was headed in powerfully by Steve Morison, however with four minutes up Sunderland set up a dramatic finale as Dong-Won Ji found Kieron Richardson on the left edge of the area and his shot arrowed through a crowd of players and nestled inside the far post. Norwich actually played the five minutes of stoppage time with ten men as James Vaughan went off injured after they'd used all their subs but they held on amid intense pressure. Attendance : 26,107 Assists : Bennett (ck), Tierney, Ji Dong-Won 25 September 2011 QPR 1 (Dunne 93 og) Aston Villa 1 (Bannan 58 Pen) SENT OFF : Traore (QPR) 90 QPR grabbed a deserved draw thanks to a freak own goal in stoppage time at home to Aston Villa. Rangers dominated a goalless first half but Villa improved significantly after the break and went ahead with a controversial penalty as Traore was judged to have pulled the shirt of Gabriel Agbonlahor as the pair battled for a cross. The decision surprised most in the stadium, even the Villa fans who were literally yards from the action but didn't screech for a penalty! Barry Bannan found the bottom corner from the spot although keeper Paddy Kenny guessed right. The hosts seemed to have lost any hope when Traore was shown a second yellow for a late challenge on Marc Albrighton, however they threw caution to the wind and in the third minute of stoppage time, Heidar Helguson's drilled cross was thumped clear by Stephen Warnock only for it to hit Richard Dunne on the knee and rebound in. Attendance : 16,707 Assists : Agbonlahor (won pen), n/a 24 September 2011 Manchester City 2 (Balotelli 68, Milner 88) Everton 0 Man City go top ahead of Man United's game in the evening but took a while to break down Everton. Bad boy sub Mario Balotelli broke the deadlock midway through the second half as he collected a back heel from Sergio Aguero and found the net with a well placed effort from the edge of the area. The win was secured late on as David Silva sent James Milner through and he just reached the ball ahead of the keeper and prodded it under him and into the net. Attendance : 47,293 Assists : n/a, Silva Arsenal 3 (Van Persie 46, Van Persie 71, Song 89) Bolton 0 SENT OFF : Wheater (Bolton) 55 Arsenal began to get their season back on track with a comfortable win against ten man Bolton. After a goalless first half, it swung the Gunners way in the opening minute of the second as Robin Van Persie collected a pass from Aaron Ramsey and after driving into the area, he fired a shot inside the near post. Bolton's cause wasn't further damaged by an injury to Gary Cahill and a red card to David Wheater for pulling back Theo Walcott as he burst clear. The hosts took full advantage as Walcott crossed for Van Persie to flick in the second - his 100th for Arsenal - and late on Bacary Song set up Alex Song to fire in from the edge of the area. Attendance : 59,727 Assists : Ramsey, Walcott, Ramsey Chelsea 4 (Torres 29, Ramires 36, Ramires 76, Drogba 94) Swansea 1 (Williams 86) SENT OFF : Torres (Chelsea) 39 Chelsea remain on the heels of the two Manchester clubs with a win over newly promoted Swansea although Fernando Torres again grabbed the headlines for the wrong reasons. In fairness to the Spaniard, it began well as he controlled Juan Mata's cross before turning and firing in. Seven minutes later, Ramires doubled the lead with a low shot after being found by Ashley Cole, however Torres was then shown a straight red card for a two footed lunge on Mark Gower. It didn't make too much difference as Ramires added a third as he slotted in Jose Bosingwa's pass and although the Welsh side pulled one back as Gower's free kick was nodded in by Ashley Williams but with almost up, Chelsea added a fourth as sub Didier Drogba was found by Florent Malouda and turned on the edge of the area and found the bottom corner. Attendance : 41,800 Assists : Mata, Cole, Bosingwa, Gower (fk), Malouda Liverpool 2 (Johnson 11 og, Suarez 38) Wolves 1 (Fletcher 49) Liverpool are up to fifth but didn't have it all their own way against Wolves. They led early in freak circumstances as Charlie Adam's off target effort was nodded into his own net by Roger Johnson. The lead was doubled before half time as Jose Enrique sent Luis Suarez clear and after twisting his marker inside-out, he drilled a low shot inside the near post. Wolves battled back when Steven Fletcher volleyed into the roof of the net from Steven Hunt's cross but they couldn't muster a leveller. Attendance : 44,922 Assists : n/a, Enrique, Hunt Newcastle 3 (Ba 27, 30, 54) Blackburn 1 (Hoilett 37) SENT OFF : Olsson (Blackburn) 69 Demba Ba scored an excellent hat trick as Newcastle saw off ten man Blackburn. He netted twice in four minutes in the first half as he collected Leon Best's cross and turned before walloping into the roof of the net. Rovers had barely recovered when Ba struck again with a close range header after Steven Taylor nodded the ball across goal. The visitors pulled one back when Martin Olsson crossed for Junior Hoilett to take a touch and blast in from the edge of the area. The hat trick was completed early in the second half when Ba looped in a header from Cheik Tiote's cross although Rovers wanted a foul as Best went for the ball before it drifted in. Olsson was then red carded as he fouled Best, his second booking of the game. Attendance : 46,236 Assists : Best, n/a, Olsson, Tiote West Brom 0 Fulham 0 Goalless at the Hawthorns leaving West Brom and Fulham in the bottom four. Fulham hit the woodwork twice in the second half but the Baggies almost won it in stoppage time as Chris Brunt's cross crashed against the inside of the post before bouncing to safety. Attendance : 23,835 Assists : n/a Wigan 1 (Diame 50) Tottenham 2 (Van Der Vaart 3, Bale 23) SENT OFF : Gohouri (Wigan) 63 Spurs' recent good run continued with a good win at Wigan. They struck early as Emmanuel Adebayor capitalised on a defensive mix up to set up Rafael Van Der Vaart to sweep the ball in and by half time, the lead was doubled after Gareth Bale glanced an excellent header inside the far post from a corner by Luka Modric. Wigan pulled one back early in the second half as Ronnie Stam found Mohammed Diame and as the defence backed off, he turned and slotted low inside the post, however any real chance they had disappeared when Steve Gohouri was shown a second yellow for a clattering challenge on Bale. Attendance : 18,788 Assists : Adebayor, Modric (ck), Stam Stoke 1 (Crouch 51) Manchester United 1 (Nani 27) Man United stay top but loose their perfect start to the season after they were held to a draw at Stoke. The game began somewhat physically with Stoke doing their best to kick United off the pitch resulting in a penalty claim turned down after Javier Hernandez was clearly pushed in the area and a booking for Glenn Whelan for a crunching challenge on Patrice Evra. The push on Hernandez resulted in the Mexican colliding with the keeper and picking up an injury which saw him replaced by Michael Owen and all inside the opening ten minutes. When the game eventually settled, United led as Nani played a neat one-two with Darren Fletcher, waltzed past four defenders and slotted a shot low into the bottom corner. Stoke almost levelled straight away as Andy Wilkinson's stinging shot was tipped against the bar by keeper David De Gea. The stopper then made an equally good save from Jonathon Walters whose cross-shot looked to be heading for the far post. After the break, Stoke grabbed a well deserved equaliser from the traditional set piece route as a Matt Etherington corner was headed in powerfully by Peter Crouch. The former Spurs man should have netted again shortly afterwards but managed to fire against the arm of the keeper from point blank range. Marc Wilson's bullet free kick was also pushed away by De Gea although United could have had a penalty when Evra's shot was clearly handled by Ryan Shawcross. Crouch was the major danger for United late as he headed wide and then bobbled another effort wide when better contact would have been a test for De Gea. In the first minute of stoppage time, sub Ryan Giggs blazed a golden chance wide from Nani's perfect cross and with it went United's 100% record. Attendance : 27,582 Assists : Fletcher, Etherington (ck)

Serie A 2011-2012 Round 8

Title: Serie A 2011-2012 Round 8

Description: 27 October 2011 PALERMO 2 (Pinilla 28 Pen, Hernandez 77) LECCE 0 Obodo made a spectacular goal-line clearance to deny Pinilla but it was only a temporary reprieve as the Chilean converted a penalty awarded for a foul on Hernandez. Carrozzieri almost chopped Ilicic in half with a brutal tackle but the ref inexplicably played the advantage as Palermo broke, Hernandez played in Zahavi with a great reverse pass but he couldn't find an angle for a shot so passed the ball back and Hernandez scored. Miccoli should have made a routine victory even more routine but flashed a shot wide of a post.

Attendance : 24,000

Assists : Hernandez (won pen), Zahavi 26 October 2011 ATALANTA 1 (Denis 44) INTER 1 (Sneijder 32) Zarate will attempt to collected his €15,000 assist bonus - Sneijder tapped in his center via a deflection off Cigarini. Denis got above Chivu to head Atalanta level. Milito should have scored a second but contrived to balloon a perfect Maicon cross over the bar with his chest when heading the ball would surely have been easier. The awful Chivu brought down Marilungo as he ran through onto a longball but Castelazzi got Inter out of jail when he saved Denis' dreadful penalty.

Attendance : 20,000

Assists : Zarate, Moralez CESENA 1 (Candreva 47 Pen) CAGLIARI 1 (Nene 20 Pen) Both teams traded penalties awarded for handball. Attendance : 14,812 Red Card : Giampaolo 46 (Cesena) Assists : n/a, n/a CHIEVO 0 BOLOGNA 1 (Acquafresca 53) Attendance : 5,000 Assist : Ramirez (fk) GENOA 2 (Jankovic 38, Kucka 89) ROMA 1 (Borini 82) Jankovic released Palacio down the right and to the surprise of absolutely no one left Heinz for dead before putting on the breaks while his team-mates caught up, he rolled across a center and Jankovic took a touch before lifting a shot into the bottom right corner. Borini, guilty of a laughable miss in the first half tapped in at the back post after Borriello chased down a lost cause, catching Bovo as he waited for the ball to go out of play before crossing. Merkel headed a corner against Kucka and the ball deflected off him and rolled through Stekelenburg's legs. Attendance : 20,000 Assists : Palacio, Boriello, Merkel LAZIO 1 (Klose 17) CATANIA 1 (Bergessio 63) Klose briefly headed Lazio top of Serie A and took a boot to the face for his troubles and barely flinched. Hero. Without Hernanes, who wasn't risked from the start due to an ankle knock, Lazio failed to fashion further chances and paid the price when Bergessio punished a mistake by Stankevicius to equalise. Attendance : 30,000 Assists : Brocchi, n/a MILAN 4 (Nocerino 30, Nocerino 32, Ibrahimovic 73, Nocerino 92) PARMA 1 (Giovinco 78) With all eyes on Boateng another hat-trick hero emerged and it must be the first time in history that Milan midfielders have scored hat-tricks in consecutive games. Abbiati made a great save with his feet to deny Zaccardo who was typically lost by Bonera on a corner. Minutes later Nocerino gave Milan the lead when he bundled in a loose ball after the Parma defence struggled to clear an Ibrahimovic center. Two minutes later Paletta headed out Nocerino's cross, he bounced the ball off his chest before lashing a half volley into the top left corner. Cassano and Ibrahimovic argued after Cassano ignored him and blazed over but they kissed and made up when Cassano headed down a longball and Ibrahimovic ran through a defender before tapping wide of Mirante. Taiwo failed to track Biabiany and he slipped in Giovinco with a lovely ball and he nutmegged Abbiati to join Di Natale at the top of the goalscoring charts. Nocerino headed in a perfectly weighted Cassano cross â€" his 7th assist of the season. Unlike Ancelotti Allegri doesn't take off players when they have a chance of a hat-trick. Attendance : 36,937 Assists : n/a, n/a, Cassano, Biabiany, Cassano NAPOLI 2 (Lavezzi 20, Maggio 44) UDINESE 0 Lavezzi looked to play a give and go with Cavani and drove a hard pass into the striker, Cavani initially miss-controlled but as the ball spun up off his chest with his back to play he hooked it back over his head and Lavezzi caught in on the drop with a magnificent right foot volley into the corner. Stunning goal. Floro Flores almost went one better when he met a set piece with a spectacular scissor kick from the edge of the box only to be denied by an equally brilliant one handed save. Asamoah also troubled De Sanctis with a shot from the edge of the box. Inler played a reverse pass to Dzemaili who sent a first time cross to the back post and Maggio leapt above Danilo to send a header crashing into the back of the net. Attendance : 30,000 Assists : Cavani, Dzemaili NOVARA 1 (Gemiti 80) SIENA 1 (Calaio 17) Fontana parried a deflected cross and Calaio snared the rebound. Gemiti smashed in the equaliser from a short corner. Attendance : 12,000 Assists : n/a, Mazzarini 25 October 2011 JUVENTUS 2 (Bonucci 13, Matri 65) FIORENTINA 1 (Jovetic 57) Boruc failed to hold Vidal's tame shot from a corner and Bonucci was first to the rebound. Jovetic equalised with a brilliant curling shot from the edge of the box. Pepe was rewarded for his persistence when he broke three tackles before poking a through ball to Matri who fired low and hard past Boruc. I don't understand how Mihajlovic is still coach of Fiorentina. He should have been canned at the end of the last season. Attendance : 35,517 Assists : n/a, Vargas, Pepe LEADERS 16 points - Juventus 15 points - Lazio, Udinese 14 points - Napoli, Milan
